Most of the times shown are in Universal Time (UTC or GMT) Add 11 hours for E. Australian Daylight Saving time, or 10 hrs for E. Standard time.
I generally have a look at one of the first of these images to see if anything interesting is happening and if it is, then proceed to the animated links (current developments) or others that
interest me such as the great new images from the Naval Research Laboratory, in Monterey, California.

These show the development of the current conditions over time.

Company. The colour map is a bit idealised (Oh for Aus to be that green!) but it is a good image, and you have the choice of looking at the animation one frame at a time.
- SE Australia, Current Developments from Robin Humble, adapted with permission for Central and Southern Tablelands Weather, using images from
James Cook' Met site and the JMA.
- Latest Experimental Geostationary Rain Estimation Global rain map
and a set of user interactive Rain accumulation maps for Australia from the Naval Research Laboratory, Marine Meteorology Division, Monterey California. These can also be animated!
By clicking on the image on the left you will get to see the latest "Southern hemisphere" map and one can also animate the latest images to better see how things are developing in our area. See also the Latest Indian Ocean map to see what's off the western Australian coast.
When animating, under "Next Chose Images" I tend to use "Every_Forth."
Other great images are the E Aus IR Cloud and winds map from the NRL's Clouds and Winds page and the Australian (Western Pacific) image with NOGAPS overlays.
